Hakomi is based on the idea that much of our everyday suffering is unnecessary and produced by unconscious beliefs that are no longer relevant, true or necessary.

The Hakomi method is designed to bring such beliefs into consciousness, gently and efficiently. Once these beliefs are made conscious, they can be examined and modified to provide a more realistic and satisfying way of being. Angela has completed Module IV in Hakomi and is currently working towards certification.

Foundational Principles of Hakomi
<div class="wss-widget-text" style="font-size: 13px; Reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a method of psychotherapy that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. Angela has completed EMDR Basic Training (Level II).

In the broadest sense, EMDR is intended to alleviate human suffering and assist individuals and human society to fulfill their potential for development while minimizing risks of harm in its application.

For the client, the aim of EMDR treatment is to achieve the most profound and comprehensive treatment effects in the shortest period of time, while maintaining client stability within a balanced family and social system.

EMDR is an approach to psychotherapy that is comprised of principles, procedures and protocols. It is not a simple technique, characterized primarily by the use of eye movements.

EMDR is founded on the premise that each person has both an innate tendency to move toward health and wholeness, and the inner capacity to achieve it. EMDR is grounded in psychological science and is informed by both psychological theory and research on the brain.

Scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post traumatic stress. However, clinicians also have reported success using EMDR in treatment of the following conditions:

• Eating Disorders & Addictions

• Body Dysmorphic Disorders & Pain Disorders

• Sexual and/or Physical Abuse

• Panic Attacks, Stress Reduction & Performance Anxiety

• Complicated Grief

• Dissociative Disorders & Personality Disorders

• Disturbing Memories & Phobias

NOTE: For more information, please visit http://www.emdrcanada.org/ and http://www.emdria.org.
